Cinnamon Chips (or Cina-Chips) are a great treat, and a kid favorite. I used to make them after school in my middle school days. The combination of sweet (cinnamon sugar) and savory (flour tortilla) is perfect. I had the tortillas out from fajitas for dinner tonight, so I made this old favorite dessert.

There are only a few (to be exact) ingredients for this recipe:

1/3 cup

Cinnamon Sugar

3 – 4

Flour Tortillas

1/3 cup

Vegetable Oil

Cinnamon sugar can be bought at the grocery store, or it is really easy to make. Just mix the following ratios:

1/3 cup

2 teaspoons

  1. Slice a stack (3 or 4) of tortillas into triangles.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Add the sliced tortillas, and fry until just golden brown.
  3. Remove the tortilla ships from the oil and dab dry on paper towels.
  4. After drying, spread the tortilla chips on a cookie sheet.
  5. Using a sifter sift the cinnamon sugar mixture over the chips.
  6. Dust off any excess cinnamon sugar, and serve.

I like to line a bowl with paper towels to serve these chips. Next time you can’t decide between savory and sweet, try this recipe.
