Cinnamon Chips (or Cina-Chips) are a great treat, and a kid favorite. I used to make them after school in my middle school days. The combination of sweet (cinnamon sugar) and savory (flour tortilla) is perfect. I had the tortillas out from fajitas for dinner tonight, so I made this old favorite dessert.
There are only a few (to be exact) ingredients for this recipe:
|
1/3 cup |
Cinnamon Sugar |
|
3 - 4 |
Flour Tortillas |
|
1/3 cup |
Vegetable Oil |
Cinnamon sugar can be bought at the grocery store, or it is really easy to make. Just mix the following ratios:
|
1/3 cup |
Sugar |
|
2 teaspoons |
Cinnamon |
- In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Add the sliced tortillas, and fry until just golden brown.
- Remove the tortilla ships from the oil and dab dry on paper towels.
- After drying, spread the tortilla chips on a cookie sheet.
- Using a sifter sift the cinnamon sugar mixture over the chips.
- Dust off any excess cinnamon sugar, and serve.
I like to line a bowl with paper towels to serve these chips. Next time you can’t decide between savory and sweet, try this recipe.
