This is a family favorite and I’ve always just eye-balled it until tonight I actually measured everything so it could be documented. It’s a little sweet and the kids love the sauce. You can substitute any meat and any veggie, get creative!
Season the beef (or other meat) with black pepper, and cut into small pieces. In a hot skillet with olive oil, sauté the beef until cooked.
| season | black pepper |
| 1 lb | beef |
| 2 Tablespoons | olive oil |
Drizzle with 3 tablespoons of flour. This will eventually thicken the sauce. Stir until all the white is gone.
| 3 Tablespoons | flour |
Next add the beef broth (or water would work) and veggies. Cook a few minutes until the veggies are cooked.
| 1 cup | broth/water |
Finally add the soy sauce and brown sugar and continue to stir on high heat until thick and bubbly.
| 1/2 cup | soy sauce |
|
1/4 cup |
brown sugar |
Serve over a mound of rice and be prepared to serve seconds, and thirds.
